Lots of Spring Break

Ferenc and I spent this spring break hiking with my family. It had been a few years since I went on this trip that my dad goes on every March and I forgot how much I like to be out there with no phones, ipods, tvs, etc. Despite some pretty nasty blisters, Ferenc liked it too and hopefully we'll be able to keep in the next few years.

and for some reason my pictures are all mixed up and there are too many of them to get it right

an abandoned cowboy camp. the box was full of old cans and stuffing to try to keep them from exploding.

Ferenc and I on the first day

Bryan posing waiting on my dad to help him down. this the 3rd day i think.

Day two.

pot holes we filter our water from.

taking turns lowering our packs down, and getting helped down.

Bryan and my cousin Thomas standing some pictographs

after we made it down the cliff in the earlier pictures.

lots of pictographs. some kind of animal.

a man holding a basket on his head and his dog

we found some stalagmites. this one had water running down.

Bryan and Thomas standing under some pictographs.

i have no idea what this supposed to be

another animal.

a man. it's rare for them to be detailed enough that they have 5 fingers on each hand.

all in a row.

Bryan and my dad

an arrowhead.

right next to the pictographs. almost the last day. (which means day #5 with no shower or hair brush.

me and bryan

uncle dallas and thomas

bryan.

the photographer.

looking over the edge.

a deer. one day we saw more than 50.

me, bryan, and dad.

the day we saw lots of deer.

an abandoned ranch house.

these signatures were on an different house that was once on the Honeymoon Trail. 1918.

1910.

a cactus. those yellow things have tiny spines. yeah, i touched.

we stopped outside of Tuba City on our way home and saw the Dinosaur tracks. actually kind of cool.

the house on the Honeymoon Trail. One of John D. Lee's wives lived there.

and the inside.

And that was the gist of the trip. Can't wait until next year!

Looks so fun! Maybe you should host your own backpacking trip. I would totally trust you as my guide through the canyon!
