i loved loved loved spring break
there's something about not having to worry about attendance, homework, studying, or working that i really love.
i relaxed, shopped with Serena, registered, paintballed with Ferenc, Piroska, her boyfriend Reese, and some of their friends, went out to eat a couple times, made bridal shower invitations, met with a florist, made my plans with a decorater a little more concrete, picked out and printed engagement photos, got my hair done, made "family" crafts at sis. duncan's, met with a lender and made a plan of things to do so we can buy a home in tucson, hung out with my brothers, had a few long talks with my dad, attempted to help my mom with bridesmaid dresses, played video games with Ferenc, bought the twilight movie (i have yet to watch it but knowing that i have it puts a smile in my life), started learning a song on the guitar, learned two new piano songs, practiced cello over and over again.
i was excited because i thought i had 11 days of play in phoenix, however my days were cut a little short. normally, i wouldn't come home to tucson until late monday night. but this week i had to come to tucson saturday afternoon. i was asked to play a cello duet in a musical fireside sunday night. i was confused about how my ability to play cello leaked into institute knowledge after trying my best to keep it almost secret for almost three years. i kept it secret so things like being asked to play in sacrament meeting or fireside or some other institute activity would be avoided, but alas, my secret is out. i don't really like to play in front of people, but it wasn't too bad. my hands were sweaty and shaking a little bit, but overall, it went pretty well. there were probably about 10 people who i've known for the past three years that came up to me afterwards and said something along the lines of "katie, i didn't know you play the cello!" i responded with a friendly, "yeah, i was doing that on purpose" and then a member of the bishopric told me i should play in sacrament meeting. out loud, i agreed, but in my head, my response was more like, "syke! that's not happening!" i'm still alive, though, so i guess it wasn't that bad.
and today is my first day of classes after spring break. staying up until 3am when you have an 8am class, is not a good idea. a better idea is to avoid being enrolled in an 8am class. especially one where the teacher takes attendance and talks and talks and talks about things that will not help you on the test if you were awake enough to take notes. avoid those classes at all possible costs.
