My family goes to Parsons, Kansas once every 3 years for a family reunion for all the
descendants of my dad's grandparents. There are about 400 of us and usually about 300 or so show up, but this year we had just over 100. We figure it was the economy that stopped everybody from coming. We go to Kansas because that's where my great grandparents had a homestead, but almost nobody still lives in Kansas so it's a big trip for most people.
My family (all 7 of us: mom, dad,
lori, me,
ferenc,
jj, and
bryan) drove like we always do. It was a
great 22 hour straight drive there with 7 people, an ice chest, 3 backpacks, and some other small bags fitting in the 8 seats. Plus, all of our luggage piled up in the back. We mostly slept, watched some movies, read some books, and did some crossword puzzles.
Anyway, we did have fun and here are some pictures!

This little girl said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang God Bless America almost perfectly and she's only two and a half. So cute.

My dad's family was actually in charge of the reunion this year so he lead all the meetings

This little girl told me that my drawing of a car was not "suitable" for pink paper. She had the biggest vocabulary for a 4 year old.

My granddad's sister Joan. She's the only one of the 9 siblings that is still alive. We gave her the tiara and wand for being the matriarch of the family.

this too.

The whole group (except the people taking pictures). Can you find me?

First cousins from oldest to youngest. There are actually tons more of them.
We also had fun painting the old fence around the family cemetery, playing nertz (best card game ever) until 2 or 3 am, catching fireflies at night, keeping the tradition of throwing anyone who has normal clothes on into the pool (they got Ferenc, shoes and all and most of dad's cousins, beer and all :]), buying and selling tickets for the family raffle to raise money for the next reunion, winning a photo album, homemade jam, and a few other things from said raffle, drowning ourselves in bug spray, and trying to keep everyones hair under control in the humidity.
Another perk was that we acquired enough stuff to need to buy a thing for the roof of the car to keep all of our luggage in, which emptied the inside of the car enough to make it comfortable. That and taking two days to drive home instead of one definitely helped our drive home.
